Nose: sweet, glue, dried fruits, raisins, heavy sweet sherry (I am thinking Pedro Ximénez), wood chips, nuts, fruits, apples, red fruits, ripe cherries, mint, menthol, eucalyptus
Palate: sweet, caramel, Werther’s original, butter, nuts, walnuts, wood chips, medium dry, citrus, a hint of tannins
Finish: dry, sweet, slight bitter, marmalade, wood, nuts
Conclusion: Okay, I confess; I love sherry-finished whiskies. This one is extra likeable, possibly because it is a second fill cask, and the sherry has had a beautiful influence, but you are not chewing the dried fruits as much as we would when it would have matured in a first fill for her full 21 years. I love this.
More info: Distilled in June 1992, matured in 2nd fill ex-Sherry butt #10185, bottled in one of 219 bottles in December 2013
