.wisers – red letter

45% abv, €70, Canadian whisky

Nose: wood shavings, pencil shavings, marzipan, pine, rye, pear, citrus, pineapple, mint, anise
Palate: sweet, liquorish, star anise, honey, oily, pine, wood, rye, mint, eucalyptus, citrus, orange zest
Finish: mint, liquorish, wood and a hint of tannins and a hint of marmalade bitter
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: I do like it, but I am not really sure how much I like it. It is different from Scotch Single Malt for sure, and with the rye influence she is rather sweet and attractive. She is only my second attempt in Canadian Whiskies, and so far, I am not disappointed.

More info: the best rye whisky found in Wiser’s warehouses was married together and finished for 150 days in new white oak casks, to celebrate the 150 years’ anniversary of the company. Limited to 6000 bottles in 2007, so I reckon they are all long gone by now. Too bad really. I would have liked to familiarise a little more.
